Horsham French Fest - 15th to 17th July 2011

Welcome to Horsham French Fest 2011:

Horsham French Fest

The 2011 Horsham French Fest takes place in Horsham Town Centre between 15th to 17th July 2011

Horsham’s FrenchFest, a popular festival celebrating all things Gallic, returns for its sixth year in Horsham and promises to deliver a feast of tasty treats, arts, music, classic French vehicles and more from Friday 15th to Sunday 17th July.

The centrpiece of the festival must be the authentic French market in the Carfax offering freshly baked breads and patisseries, cheeses and olives, clothes, crafts, charcuterie and freshly cooked nibbles. Adding extra French flavour will be Master (comedy) Chef Monsieur Brullee, classic mime comedy from Mime Innit and of course all your favourite French chanteurs and melodies adding that Gallic ambience to your shopping experience. The weekly Local Produce Market will be returning to Horsham as normal on Saturday.

Regulars to FrenchFest will be pleased to see the return of the Boules (Petanque) in Market Square with the Southern Petanque Association, including the Horsham Rotary Business Boules Cup Competition on Friday lunchtime and evening. DC Leisure will once again be offering passers-by the chance to take part in the Tour de Horsham challenge with some great prizes to be won, whilst the 45eme Infanterie Regiment de Ligne - French Napoleonic re-enactors – will once again be drilling ‘new recruits’ around the Carfax bandstand on Saturday and telling exciting stories of their escapades!

Those interested in Horsham’s true historical links with France may like to take the French Connection Trail around Horsham Museum and Art Gallery on the Friday and Saturday, whilst hands-on art is on offer in the Carfax with the opportunity to make poppy or sunflowers with a professional artist or to join Horsham Open Studios artists at their Montmartre Day display creating ancient French cave paintings!

Horsham FrenchFest organisers are delighted to announce a treat for all 2CV lovers: ‘South Down Escargots’ will be co-ordinating a display of 2CVs vehicles in Horsham Town Centre on Sunday 15th July as part of Horsham’s FrenchFest. More details to be confirmed shortly.

Whether you come to Horsham to buy tasty French produce, practise your artistic skills, enjoy story telling and comedy entertainment, or simply to soak up the special FrenchFest atmosphere, your visit to Horsham this weekend will be one to remember.

The Horsham event team are working on a number of new French-inspired features for 2011 and as soon as details are confirmed news announcements will be made here, in the local press and via the Facebook site, Horsham FrenchFest. Tel: 01403 215386.
