The village of Lower Beeding will be in the spotlight this weekend as the world's most powerful financial leaders come together for the G20 meeting.
Chancellor Alastair Darling and President Barrack Obama's Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner are among those attending the meeting at the luxurious South lodge Hotel in the small village.
Members of the G20, formally called the Group of Twenty Finance Minister and Central Bank Governors will be arriving today (Friday), with many expecting to land by helicopter.
The Resident understands that the Chancellor is likely to be making a special visit in Horsham on Friday.
Hundreds of media representatives from all over the world are expected to cover the G20 meeting, and a huge security operation will be in place as environmental campaigners are expected to be present.
A Spokeswoman for Sussex Police said: "Sussex Police has been working in partnership with H.M. Treasury in the planning of the G-20 Finance Minister's conference this coming weekend"
"Police will be present on the site, at the invitation of the landowner and the South Lodge Hotel Management, and in support of G4S."
"Our key aims are to ensure the safety and security of both visitors to the venue, and to local communities, and businesses; as well as ensuring minimum disruption to those who live and work near by, or who are travelling in the vicinity".
Police are warning motorists to drive with particular due care and attention on the A281 and between Cowfold (A272) and Horsham during the weekend.
However regular users will be aware that the speed camera close to the hotel usually does the trick.
Chief Inspector Gordon Denslow said: "Traffic on the A281 is likely to be heavier than usual as a large number of media representatives will be in the area".
An article in the Mail on Sunday criticised the G20 for organising the event with "520-a-night suites" while the economy is in recession, but Horsham business leaders have welcomed the event as a huge opportunity for the hotel and the area at large.
