Other than annoying us with the band name punctuation, hAND are making lots of fans on the music scene.
Their debut album Deadroom Journal was described by one critic as ‘totally groundbreaking’. Well, we’ve heard it bits of it, and it’s not, but we’re still impressed, particularly with the guitarist.
Next up for the three piece Progressive gothic metal band is a headlining slot at the second day of the Damsels of Destruction festival in London, on Saturday 6th June, at the Bridgehouse II, Bidder Street, Canning Town, London, E16 4ST.
The festival is set to be the sleekest, sexiest mini-fest of its type this year - featuring 27 of the country's finest, feistiest female-fronted acts in one of London's best up and coming small live music venues.
Damsels of Destruction is a three-day extravaganza of female-fronted rock and metal bands, in aid of a cancer research charity.
Acts joining hAND on the Saturday of the festival include Liquid Sky, Hanging Doll, Tainted Grace and Crimson Tears. Tickets for the event are now on sale at www.ticketweb.co.uk.
hAND were originally a duo combining elements of rock and trance, until the two founding members Kat Ward and Kieren Johnstone joined forces with drummer Cris Nelson early in 2006 and the band in its current incarnation was born.
The band self released two EP’s, working with Fony guitarist Chris Hamilton on their second "Shadow: Word Pain", which earned them sponsorship with Mapex and Paiste as well as being a significant contributing factor in the acquisition of a record deal.
In 2007 they took part in the AKG Unsigned Heroes competition, beating over 800 acts to secure their spot in the top 20. Later that year the band signed to Copro Records, the birthplace of acts such as Panic Cell, Forever Never & I-Def-I.
Their debut album was recorded at Philia Studios with producer Nick Hemingway (Isor, Cancer, Desecration) in May 2008 and a full endorsement with FVF Drums soon followed.
Currently working hard to promote the album and gigging all around the UK, with plans for a tour next year, hAND are also an impressive live act, having played alongside the likes of Octavia Sperati, Season’s End and many more.
