DON'T miss out! If you're a real foodie, and passionate about buying local produce, then this Saturday's Big Nibble is a not to be missed event.
There's something for everyone and this year promises to be bigger and better with The Big Nibble in The Carfax and The Big Nibble in The Drill Hall.
The Big Nibble is a one day event in the four week Horsham District Food & Drink Festival programme - a celebration of locally produced food and drink in the Horsham District.
If you're one of the few people who don't have a Festival programme, you can pick one up at The Big Nibble or call 01403 215529. It's crammed with 101 special offers and events, brought to you courtesy of local businesses, passionate about local produce and it has only a week left, so you need to be quick.
The Horsham District Food & Drink Festival and The Big Nibble are organised by Horsham District Council, with sponsorship from Freedom Food, West Sussex County Council, Federation of Small Businesses, Spirit FM and The Resident.
With many fantastic foodie things happening all over the District, The Big Nibble is the most hotly anticipated event in the calendar!
Last year's event, held in The Carfax, Horsham attracted record crowds, despite the weather, with many producers sold out by lunchtime and making emergency dashes to replenish their stocks.
Such was its popularity that Horsham District Council was inundated with requests from members of the public and food and drink producers to bring back The Big Nibble as it was in 2005 with two venues. So this year, due to popular demand and a testament to the growing public passion for locally produced food and drink, it’s a double venue whammy!
The Big Nibble in The Carfax, horsham will be this Saturday (26 September) from 9am to 4pm and The Big Nibble in The Drill Hall from 10am to 2pm, plus all the excitement and special offers from the many town centre businesses participating in the month long Food and Drink Festival.
The Big Nibble in The Carfax will be an extension of The Carfax local produce market with many more producers and local food vendors spread right across from Swan Walk Shopping Centre to the bandstand.
There's also the ever popular demonstration kitchen area, with a packed programme throughout the day, from local cheese courtesy of High Weald Dairy to cider pressing from The Old Rudgwick Cider Society and fantastic local chefs coming out of their restaurants to demonstrate their skills.
This year we have Ben Goldsmith of Whites in Steyning, James Middleton-Burn of The Crown Inn, Dial Post and Tristan Mason of Restaurant Tristan in Horsham. Taking the stage will also be Hilary Knight of A Taste of Sussex.
The Big Nibble in The Drill Hall has the very popular Storrington Country Market, last seen in The Drill Hall in 2005, Weltons Brewery will be offering tastings of their latest brews, Sussex Mushrooms from Thakeham will be cooking up fabulous mushroom recipes and many more fantastic local producers selling their culinary delights.
In the demonstration kitchen will be The Big Guns, a trio of chefs from the Exclusive Hotel Group, with Peter Hawes and Barnaby Gehlcken from South Lodge hotel and Robbie Pearce from Mannings Heath Golf Club.
Follow The Big Nibble trail around the town and bring your empty shopping bags because you will be tempted by all the fantastic tasty food and drink on offer. Take some time out to go on the ever popular Horsham Beer Trail. At £1 it is fantastic value and your chance to sample the delights of finest beers that Horsham pubs have to offer!
A bit of advice though - put your flat shoes on as once you’re there you will want to stay all day!
