It might seem strange to give a loved one something that would eat them, given half a chance, as a Christmas present.
But it’s a bit more exciting than socks, or another Jamie Oliver cook book that’ll never get used.
Horsham based animal charity Born Free is offering something a little different this Christmas - the chance to adopt a tiger, or another endangered species.
Born Free protects lions, elephants, tigers, gorillas, wolves, polar bears, dolphins, marine turtles and many more species in their natural habitat, working with local communities to help people and wildlife live together without conflict.
For £30, you can adopt Roque, a tiny tiger cub who was taken from his mother and put on sale in a Spanish pet-shop. Born Free rescued the scared cub and today this magnificent tiger lives in a jungle enclosure at a sanctuary in India.
Or how about adopting a baby chimp? Afrika was just a few months old when her mother was killed by poachers. The terrified baby was kept in a tiny cage, filthy and starving. Luckily she was rescued and has now recovered at a special sanctuary in Uganda.
Adopt little Afrika and you’ll help fund her daily food and care.
Then there is Matilda, the Asian elephant who lost her mother when just a baby. Luckily she was rescued and nursed back to health by Sri Lanka’s Elephant Transit Home. Too young to survive alone, Matilda needs 40 pints of milk each day!
Other animals that can be adopted include wolves, giraffes, lions, orcas, leopards, cheetahs and a moon bear.
Stephanie, from Horsham said: “I received a wild adoption gift for Ginny the moon bear in 2008 from my partner for Christmas.
“I was so thrilled to have received this unique present; each wild gift helps a genuine animal in need, and supports the work of International Wildlife Charity Born Free and helps them to protect and care for wild animals! What a lovely thoughtful present - I couldn’t have asked for a better Christmas gift.”
