Elaine Mackenzie is a Scottish designer of bespoke, luxury Harris Tweed apparel for women and children. Her eponymous line manifests the romance of British country living with a modern approach to traditional tailoring and design techniques.
Raised on the Isle of Lewis in Scotland’s Outer Hebrides Islands, Elaine grew up in the epicenter of Harris Tweed production. With close family and friends involved in the manufacturing of this ancient cloth, Elaine developed a deep respect for the craftspeople and artisans that fuel Britain’s creative economy from an early age.
Her creative expression found new inspiration in 2007 when she learned the visual vocabulary of Colour Psychology. Mentored by top professionals in the field, Elaine learned how to style according to the theories of the four main colour personality types—Autumn, Winter, Spring and Summer. The tenants of Colour Psychology now inform her design approach, imbuing a cutting-edge understanding of colour to a very traditional British fabric.
