St. Georges Day Scouts Parade
St. George is the Patron Saint of the Scouts, so the Sunday nearest to St. George's Day has become an annual occasion for the Scouts to hold ceremonies when they reaffirm their Promise and acknowledge the Scout Law in a national act of dedication. Scouting groups across the Horsham district, together with a contingent from Horsham guides, will be marching through town in the annual St George's parade on Sunday 24th April from 2.30pm - 4pm.
The parade will start near the railway station and follow a route down North Street to the Carfax. The open air celebration around the Bandstand will last about 20 minutes and will include the annual renewal of the Scout Promise by all members.
As a result of this event the following temporary road closures will apply: North Street – 2.25pm to 2.50pm; Park Way – 2.30pm to 2.45pm; East Street or Copnall Way – 2.35pm to 2.50pm; Blackhorse Way (westwards) and the Carfax – 2.45pm to 3pm.
Everyone will be welcome to view the parade along its route and observe the proceedings in the Carfax.
