Dame Patricia Routledge & Piers Lane: Admission One Shilling

Admission: One Shilling

Multi-award-winning actress Dame Patricia Routledge and international concert pianist Piers Lane tell the extraordinary story of Myra Hess and her famous wartime National Gallery concerts.

Through spoken word interspersed with piano music by Bach, Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms, Schumann and Chopin, hear how the ‘great adventure’ of these lunchtime concerts began, and how they continued while bombs rained down on London.

Performance approx. one hour

Cast: Dame Patricia Routledge Piers Lane

Creatives: Devised by Nigel Hess Directed by Christopher Luscombe

As part of the Horsham District Year of Culture, The Capitol will be hosting a small number of one-off events. These may be larger shows than we might usually accommodate, or simply special things that we think have a particularly interesting cultural appeal. Watch out for the Year of Culture logo throughout the year on our website.
