Horsham Museum and Art Gallery

March 16, 2019 | 10:30 a.m.

Lacemaking has a long history, dating back to the 15th Century in Britain. It was mainly a cottage industry which began to die out due to the introduction of machine made lace. Now it is made as a hobby which has many aspects, creative, therapeutic and also social. Would you like to know more about this fascinating craft?

If so come along to Horsham Museum on Saturday 16th March between 10.30am and 4pm when there will be a display and also also an opportunity to watch lace being made by local lacemakers and have a go yourself. Our lace group meets on Wednesdays at Millais School from 7.30 to .9.30 pm. There are a range of abilities, and we are all happy to help any beginners who would like to have a go. In addition there is a Horsham group who meet every other month in Horsham. We have speakers, workshops and often suppliers.

If you are interested and don't want to wait until March, please contact either Cathy Smith (catherine.elaine@tiscali.co.uk ) or Ingrid Harrison (mumhar@aol.com) for more information. We would be very pleased to hear from you.
