Armistice Day in Horsham - by Royal British Legion & HDC

In addition to Remembrance Sunday, the Horsham Branch of the Royal British Legion (RBL), in partnership with Horsham District Council, holds a short ceremony at the War Memorial in the Carfax in Horsham on Friday 11th November 2016, for those who wish to remember at the ‘eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month’.
St Mary’s CE Primary School and Arunside Primary School in Horsham will bring pupils to the War Memorial on 11 November to witness this. The council has liaised with the Royal British Legion and both organisations very much welcome the opportunity to involve the young people in the ceremony.
Programme:
Music will be played from 10.30am
10.45am Arrival at the War Memorial, Carfax, Horsham
10.59am The Bugler sounds the Last Post, standards go to the Dip
11am The Exhortation

11:03am Wreath Laying
Cllr Christian Mitchell, Chairman of Horsham District Council followed by:
- Planting of 12 Remembrance crosses by children from both schools
- Rev Jimmy Young, Curate at St Mary’s Church, Horsham will speak and say a short prayer
At the end of this service, the Chairman of Horsham District Council will speak and thank the staff and pupils of both schools, other councillors and the public who have attended.
The children of St Mary's school will sing 3 songs: In Flanders Fields, Pack up your troubles and It's a long way to Tipperary.
