Nov. 11, 2015 | 10:45 a.m.

In addition to Remembrance Sunday, the Horsham Branch of the Royal British Legion (RBL) in partnership with Horsham District Council, holds a short ceremony at the War Memorial in the Carfax in Horsham on Wednesday 11th November 2015, for those who wish to remember at the ‘eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month’.

This year, as well as the laying of a wreath by the Chairman of Horsham District Council, there will be the unveiling of an additional plaque listing 43 people who came from Horsham who died in military service for their country during World War II. Their names were unfortunately not recorded in 1992 when we re-dedicated this war memorial. Now thanks to the extensive research by Gary Cooper, we have been able to make that right.
We will welcome some of the descendants of those who are mentioned on this plaque at this Armistice Day.

The dedication speech will be made by the Chairman of Horsham District Council, Cllr. Tricia Youtan at 10.50 am prior to the 2 minutes silence.

Children from St. Mary’s Primary School will be joining the service to plant 12 Remembrance crosses.
.
The public are welcome to come and join in this short ceremony at 10.50 am on Wednesday 11th November 2015.
