About the event:
There will be two bands performing, one at at 11am - 1pm and one at 2pm - 4pm, every Saturday from May to August, town centre events permitting.
About the band:
The Institute Jazz Band has developed a style of Trad Jazz that appeals to the young at heart of all ages, taking inspiration from top jazz musicians such as Ken Colyer, Chris Barber, Acker Bilk and Kenny Ball. Programmes are a blend of traditional jazz numbers from the origins of the genre in New Orleans and from spirituals, through to “pop” songs of the day, to the music that became popular during the fifties when the trad jazz revival was at its height. The Band was formed in the late 80’s and plays regularly throughout Sussex and Surrey.
