Silvertip Films’ Horsham Film Festival 2022 presents an evening of documentaries which will pull at your heart strings, inspire you, bring a smile to your face and tell you about peoples fascinating lives. The shortlisted animations will dazzle you, make you laugh, get your toes tapping and take you to worlds unseen. Plus the special screening of the award winning The Dry Cleaner will keep you on the edge of your seat with it’s spy thrills!
Documentaries
Lockdown Tale – An award winning documentary showing the behind the scenes of 'Wawel Dragon', where an animation student named Cameron Carr built a studio in his bedroom when his university closed the studios due to the pandemic. Directed by Cameron Carr, Marie Trudolubova.
The Journey You’ll Take – A letter to my former self. This documentary is based Laura's letter to her 10 year old self. Now 20, there is a lot to say about moving from Hungary to England. From excitement to culture shock, this film aims to give an insight into what it's like to be a 1st generation immigrant. Directed by Laura Makai.
When I Was A Younger – a short documentary that features four women who moved to London after WWII. They left parents, siblings and friends behind when they travelled from Grenada, Jamaica, Sri Lanka and Manchester in the north of England. Now in their 70s, 80s and 90s, these women are almost invisible to a modern society that can’t envisage them as anything but old. But as the film shows, they once were young, vibrant and full of fun. In fact, these four women still have the same mischievous streak they did when they were youngers. Directed by Noella Mingo.
A Soldier of the Great War – This film is the 7th short film by Director Ben Vokes and is a personal story from his family history.
The Diver’s Son – A short film documenting the story of a man following in his father's footsteps. Sandy Rijgersberg shares some of the difficult events of his past and his quest to recover a lost keepsake. Directed by Nick Sneath.
Animations
Candlelight – In a dusty attic, a tall dinner candle springs to life. As the playful and curious candle explores, learning to hop, skip and dance, it discovers a second candle. The two play and dance their way through the attic, falling in love. Directed by Scott Newton.
Wawel Dragon – An award winning adaptation of a classic Polish folktale, rich in history, culture and magic told with an epic cinematic lens and stunning animation puppetry! Directed by Cameron Carr.

French Windows – Stop-motion and printed music video for an orchestral-pop song. Directed by Jack Osmond.
Biblick - An analogue sci-fi scape taking a brief glimpse into the last days of a dilapidated alien world and its remaining inhabitants. Created using an experimental mix of rotoscoped Stop Motion Animation and 3D Printing Techniques. Directed by Harry Richards, Bethan Reast.
