Knepp Castle Estate

June 9, 2019 | 5:30 p.m.

Inspired by Knepp Castle’s ‘Wildland Project’, The Stradivarius Piano Trio and Roderick Williams OBE play a programme of music that is deeply rooted in Sussex, at one of the great English country estates.

The Knepp Castle Estate has transformed its natural environment over recent years with its ‘Wildland Project’ leading to the return of many rare species of butterflies and birds. The evening’s Wilding Concert programme has been chosen to reflect this great achievement.

The Stradivarius Piano Trio and the Roderick Williams OBE Knepp Piano Trio perform: Milhaud’s violin/piano movement Boeuf sur le Toit (The Ox on the Roof), a surrealist ballet, originally intended as the score for a Charlie Chaplin silent films; Piazzola’s Four Seasons of Buenos Aires, a tango take on Vivaldi’s original; Ralph Vaughan Williams’s The Turtle Dove; Schubert’s Der Jäger from Die Schöne Müllerin; and the romantic British popular song A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square.
