20 September - Brighton At Work: Trades and Professions of the Past
Kevin explores trades and professions from Brighton's past, covering fishing, farming, manufacturing and entertainment industries along with some other, more dubious livings - including the dangers of building Brighton's Marina, using some previously unpublished documents.
18 October - Spooky Sussex! Spooky Sites & Sightings (Adults only)
Kevin explores spooky sites and sightings throughout Sussex history, investigating terrifying twittens, pub poltergeists and spooky shops of yesteryear - including why Yoko Ono terrified churchgoers and the tale of Findon's forgotten Highwayman.
Sunday 13 December - Sussexmas! Sussex's Christmas Traditions (Q&A 12:00-12:15)
Kevin examines Sussex Christmas traditions, investigating festive games, drinks and dishes - including why Queen Victoria was pulled by 'Keith', and some rather dangerous historical Christmas activities. Mulled wine, mince pies, tea & coffee provided.
Monday 15 February 2027 - Smoochy Sussex: Love and Lovers of Latter Day Sussex (Q&A 12:00-12:15)
A talk on Sussex's romantic past in time for Valentine's Day, with past language from the county used in a game called 'Hitched or Ditched!'
Sunday 4 April 2027 - Shocking Sussex! (finishes 13:00)
Talks by Dr Janet Pennington and Kevin Newman - a history of electricity in Sussex as well as shocking stories from around the county.
Sunday 4 July 2027 - Smugglers' Sussex (finishes 13:00)
Two talks on Sussex's smuggling past: Ian on the Cuckmere Valley, where he set his novel 'A Fraternity Of Thieves', then Kevin with a light-hearted, interactive talk about smuggling across the whole county.
