Horsham District Year of Culture 2019
The Horsham district is home to cultural icons from many different genres. We have Julia Donaldson, author of The Gruffalo; Creative Assembly, the creators of world famous computer games choosing to remain in Horsham for the last 30 years; a plethora of artistic greats from the silver screen including Dame Judi Dench, Dame Maggie Smith and Dame Julie Walters living here, as well as an astounding heritage which spans a millennia.
The Horsham District Year of Culture 2019 is a celebration of culture and heritage within the Horsham district in West Sussex.
The aim is to raise the profile of culture and heritage within the Horsham District, with a focused programme of events across 2019 which will be supported by residents and visitors. We want there to be a cultural legacy left for the district which can be enjoyed by residents and visitors, long after 2019.
The Year of Culture is being sponsored by Horsham District Council, working in partnership with advisors comprising arts patrons, existing festival organisers and representatives from education, local businesses and the community.
We want to involve the community as much as possible, and hope that by the end of 2019, every resident would have had a chance to be a part of the Year of Culture.
