Dr. Susan Michaelis BCA(hon) has lived with lobular breast cancer for the last 10 years. It’s the second most common type of breast cancer yet it does not have a specific treatment. Susan had 7 cm of it and yet a mammogram and ultra sound saw nothing because it’s very different to the more common type of breast cancer known as ductal.

Susan wants to get better diagnosis and a specific treatment for the disease so is launching the ‘Lobular Moon Shot Project’ on Thursday 25th May 2023 at 19:00 in Horsham.

A project to raise awareness of the disease and help raise the UK£20 million the Institute of Cancer Research, London will need to fully understand the biology of the cancer and ultimately get a specific treatment for lobular. Local businesses are starting to come forward to get behind the project like Leonardslee Lakes and Gardens.

The launch event will include the screening premieres of Horsham based Fact Not Fiction Films' documentary ‘My Journey With Lobular’, the first ever feature length documentary on the issue of Invasive Lobular Breast Cancer and their short film Eve Groves. both based on Susan's story.

The event is by invitation only. To attend please email office@lobularmoonshot.org

Please follow the project on instagram and Facebook for more updates. The official hashtag is #lobularmoonshotproject

On 22 July 2023, Susan is also organising a sponsored walk from Horsham to Shoreham.
