following refurbishment

Following a 10-month closure for refurbishment, The Capitol Horsham will be opening its doors on 29 November for its festive family pantomime, Dick Whittington.

The extensive refurbishment has been carried out to future-proof the venue, whilst improving comfort, accessibility and the overall customer experience.

A fresh, vibrant look awaits customers on their return, where classic style meets modern practicality. Project contractors Willmott Dixon Interiors have ensured the aesthetic look and feel of the venue has stayed true to the venue’s art deco heritage.

Celebrating 90 years as an entertainment venue, The Capitol's Venue and Productions Manager, Matthew Effemey, said 'We have been keen to honour the building's history throughout the design process, celebrating and elevating the original features wherever possible'.

Sumptuous red velvet seating meets rich dark green decor in the theatre auditorium, with golden accents highlighted throughout. The cinemas combine classic Hollywood glamour with soothing tones of blue and grey - perfect for the Silver Screen!

The stylish and inviting bar now offers an increased range of seating options and additional service points to tackle interval queues. The venue’s toilet provision has also been increased to cut down waiting times, whilst adding a touch of elegance to the facilities with new luxurious fixtures and fittings. A renewed commitment to accessibility has been made with the installation of a Changing Places facility, allowing customers with more complex needs to attend the venue in comfort. A new flexible row of accessible seating in the theatre will allow more wheelchair users and customers with limited mobility to enjoy events alongside a group of friends and family.

As the refurbishment project enters its final weeks, the stage is being set (and the bar is getting stocked!) for a festive season of entertainment. Whether you’re stopping by to enjoy a family show or the latest blockbuster, The Capitol team are looking forward to welcoming customers old and new back through its doors.
