Walk with Susan for Lobular Breast Cancer Research
On 26th August 2023, Dr. Susan Michaelis will try to walk 20 miles from Horsham Golf and Fitness to the coast at Shoreham via the Downs Link' disused railway line.
Susan was diagnosed with Invasive Lobular Breast Cancer in 2013.
It has now spread to her spine and neck.
Lobular Breast Cancer is the 2nd most common type of breast cancer, 1000 people a day are diagnosed with the cancer, a disease which rarely shows on mammograms and is often called the 'forgotten cancer.
A disease which does not have its own specific treatment.
Susan wants to change this and is asking the public to help.
On 26th August 2023, Susan will try to walk 20 miles Downs Link route from Horsham Golf and Fitness to the coast at Shoreham.
Her goal is to help raise some of the UK£20 million research money needed for the Institute of Cancer Research (IC) in London. Research to fully understand the biology of the disease which can one day, lead to a specific treatment for Lobular Breast Cancer. This will give much better outcomes for those diagnosed with the disease.
Susan is inviting people to sponsor her or walk with her and arrange their own sponsored event.
** Every £10 raised or sponsored, will earn one ticket in a raffle with amazing prizes including one night stay at the 5 star South Lodge Hotel near Horsham.
