Autumn Escapes at Leonardslee Lakes and Gardens
Seasonal walks, sparkling wine, fine dining, family adventures, and Halloween in Sussex

As the leaves turn golden and the air grows crisp, Leonardslee Lakes & Gardens in Horsham, West Sussex, invites visitors to celebrate the beauty and magic of autumn across its 240-acre Grade I listed estate.

From breathtaking autumn walks and English Sparkling wine tastings to Michelin-starred dining, seasonal shopping, and the Haunted Gardens Halloween Trail, Leonardslee offers an unforgettable day out for all ages.

“Autumn is one of the most spectacular times to visit Leonardslee,” says Penny Streeter OBE, owner of Leonardslee Lakes & Gardens. “The gardens are alive with colour, and our seasonal programme ensures there’s something for everyone — from families enjoying the Halloween trail to wine lovers and fine-dining guests seeking an indulgent escape.”

    Seasonal Highlights at Leonardslee
    •    Autumn Walks: Wander the winding ancient woodland trails to the Oak & Acer Walk, where fiery canopies of red and gold blaze overhead and shimmering lake reflections create breathtaking views. These seasonal walks are among the most spectacular in West Sussex, and visitors can pick up a guide to help uncover the gardens’ highlights.

    •    Walk-in Wine Tastings (Thursday - Sunday): Step into the Drawing Room at Leonardslee House and sample the estate’s award-winning English Sparkling wines, guided by expert sommeliers.

    •    The Sculpture Park: Wander woodland paths dotted with over 100 striking sculptures, from local and international sculptors, with autumn’s fiery colours as the perfect backdrop.

    •    Restaurant Interlude: Enjoy a Michelin-starred dining experience with a tasting menu created from foraged, estate-grown, and locally sourced ingredients.

    •    Stay at Leonardslee House: Extend your visit with an overnight stay in one of the beautiful suites overlooking the autumn gardens.

    •    The Deer Park & Wallabies: Encounter Leonardslee’s unique wildlife, including herds of fallow & sika deer and the estate’s much-loved wallabies.

    •    Leonardslee Haunted Gardens (18 October - 2 November): This October Half-Term, step into a world of shadow and wonder as you explore the haunted gardens and help bring the light back to life. Includes a prize!
Something spooky is coming… our very first Halloween evening on 29 October! Dare to join us?

    •    Garden Shop & Plant Centre: Browse locally sourced artisan products, seasonal gifts, and estate-grown plants to take a piece of Leonardslee home. Complimentary 45 minutes parking is available for shop-only visitors.

    •    The Clocktower Kitchen: Warm up with hearty seasonal dishes, lighter bites, and steaming hot drinks in a cosy setting.

    •    Workshops & Cultural Events: Discover art classes, demonstrations, and hands-on seasonal activities.
