New community drop-in sessions to support Horsham District residents who are struggling with the cost of living crisis.

A series of new community drop-in sessions are being introduced across the Horsham District to help residents who are struggling with the current cost of living crisis and need help accessing key services to help them stay independent and healthy.

The drop-in sessions have been organised by Horsham District Council’s Community Services team in partnership with West Sussex County Council Partnerships and Communities team.

The sessions are set to start on 3 August and will run initially until January 2023, after which they will be reviewed. They will take place every first and third Wednesday of the month from 10am until 12noon.

The events are friendly, informal and free to attend with no appointments necessary and are open to everyone in the community who is seeking advice or guidance on a broad range of areas including: money worries, food poverty, energy costs, emotional and mental health including loneliness and isolation, employment, adult social care, carers support and family support including young people and community safety.

It is expected that the following partnership organisations will be on hand to offer advice: Horsham District Council’s Neighbourhood Wardens, Carers support, Age UK,

, West Sussex MIND, Relate, Horsham District Health and Wellbeing amongst others.  Please note that not all the organisations will attend all the sessions on the rota.

Commenting on the community drop-in sessions, Horsham District Council Cabinet Member for Community Matters Cllr Liz Kitchen said:

"...I am really pleased that we have now introduced these new drop-in sessions as community engagement is so important during these difficult times when people are facing so many wide ranging issues.

The sessions will provide an informal and relaxed environment where people can have the chance to talk confidentially to professionals from many different service areas, getting the help they need before issues get out of control.

Do come to a session near you and access all the free help and advice that is on offer, then spread the word to others who can benefit..."

Session dates:

Community drop-ins are currently planned from 3 Aug and will run on the first and third Wednesday of every month 10am-12pm until January 2023.

All sessions are 10am-12pm. No need to book, just come along.
