Set in the heart of the beautiful West Sussex countryside overlooking Denne Hill, Horsham Sports Club has been at this magnificent location since 1851. The clubhouse and picturesque ground is a pleasant five minute walk from the centre of Horsham. We are home to four sporting sections - cricket, hockey, squash and tennis. (More details below) We also have a thriving social section.
The clubhouse has a fully licensed bar with Wi-Fi, Sky TV and big screen. Parking is available to members and guests using the club facilities. Overlooking one of the finest Cricket grounds in the County this unique venue also has two function rooms available to hire for any occasion from Conferences to Weddings.
You don't have to be a member to enjoy the bar facilities or book a function room for an event at the club, but members are able to enjoy special rates for drinks and room hire as well as priority booking for public events run by the club.
Events at the Club include the annual County Cricket Festival, Fireworks Evening, Music Festival, as well as monthly Jazz evenings with the Freddy Woods Orchestra; weekly Texas Hold’em Poker, a monthly Quiz; and twice weekly exercise classes. Daytime activities run at the club include Pilates, French Circle and Probus.
Each sporting section has its own membership and host events throughout the year including tournaments, social events and dinner/dances. All sections offer individual and group coaching for adults and juniors and welcome new members. Members of any sporting section are also social members of the main club.
Horsham Cricket Club is a thriving club with 4 Men’s Saturday XIs, Sunday XI, 2 Ladies XIs, A Thursday XI and a Junior Section for boys and girls from U9 to U16. The club also runs mini cricket for 5 - 8yr olds.
There are two cricket pitches at the club - the main square and the John Dew Ground. The main square is also a county cricket outground. In addition there are grass practice nets and an artificial net complex. There is a large pavilion with bar, function rooms and changing facilities.
Horsham HC is one of the top hockey clubs in the South of England. The Ladies 1st XI play in the National League Conference East, and the Men’s 1st XI play in the Premier Div 2 of the Kent/Sussex Regional league. There are 6 Ladies and 6 Men’s sides, including ‘Development’ and ‘Vets’ teams. There is also a thriving junior section with over three hundred members, from the age of six upwards.
For adults (and older colts) training takes place on weekday evenings with matches on Saturdays. Colts training and matches take place on a Sunday.
Hockey is played at a number of local Astro pitches in Horsham but the clubhouse is at Cricketfield Rd. Teams come back here for teas and to hold numerous social events throughout the year.
Three championship glass backed courts with viewing areas are available from 10am to 10pm every day apart from Christmas Day, Boxing Day and during the annual county cricket festival. The club runs an adult league, has 3 men’s and 1 women’s team, and holds club tournaments twice a year. Individual and group coaching is available for both adults and juniors. Members can book courts 8 days in advance, non members 2 days in advance. Players need to wear non marking soles on court.
Horsham Lawn Tennis Club welcomes players of all standards from beginners and social/family play up to competitive league level. There are five all weather hard courts available until 10pm each day as well as four grass courts available from May to September -11am to dusk-weather permitting.
Club sessions include a Men’s night, Club team night, Wednesday and Friday Ladies mornings, as well as evening social tennis on a Wednesday and daytime social on a Saturday afternoon. Teams play in the Sussex County Leagues and The Dorking and Leatherhead Summer Leagues. There is an annual members’ tournament, social mixed competitions, box leagues and a ladder competition.
Group and individual coaching is available for both adults and juniors and follows the LTA’s long term player development strategy.
Membership includes court fees. Non members can pay and play at off peak times subject to availability.
Individual and Family Social membership is available to anyone who wishes to enjoy the benefits of reduced room hire rates, discounted drinks and priority invitation to the many club events held throughout the year. Social membership also entitles match day ticket holders access to the main pavilion during county cricket week.
